HOA Community Painting
Certain communities have specific regulations that are put in place by the HOA and are accepted by the committee or by the homeowners themselves. A lot of these regulations actually contemplate certain things that can and cannot be done to homes around the area. It really depends on what specific local HOA you are a member of. We have been involved in some tense battles between our clients and the HOA. In doing so, we have truly figured out, that the best way to go about things is to follow all of the guidelines unless you are truly against a situation and you want to fight it!
What Is The Actual Reach Of The HOA
To be honest from our experience we would have to say that it varies from place to place. There are some HOAs out there that have tremendous social and political power. In these types of neighborhoods, you can bet that it is going to be tough doing anything to your home. There are other places where the HOA exists, but it really doesn’t have the power to truly demand things from its members. It's literally a political issue.
Get To Know Your HOA & Its Rules
We are just a painting service, so you can disregard a lot of what we say on this matter. Still, we believe that it serves homeowners well, to know what they are getting into before they buy a home. That way you can anticipate any type of showdown you may have with the HOA. Also, you can find ways to use those rules to be able to adapt your property the way that you see fit. Again, it is not that we want to avoid confrontation at this point. We also, don’t want to be the company that is banned by a certain HOA!
Certain HOAs have very specific painting rules. They literally have a pallet of colors that you are allowed to chose from to paint your property and nothing more. The reason behind that is to try and keep up a certain look for the area. This is very common in gated private areas. Where residents are really not allowed to express themselves a lot. We have pretty much the rules of the most influential HOAs in the area. So, you can pretty much bet we have all of the colors on your pallet available.
Can The HOA Force Me To Paint My Home
As we have said certain HOAs are stronger than others. In some areas, if your home is beginning to look old and outdated you may begin to get some pressure from your local HOA. If and when that happens we can help paint your home. If you really want to fight the rules set by the HOA you are welcome to do so. For the most part, though, we prefer to stay within in the rules of the game, to be honest with you!
